Renoir : In the Hills.
This fabric is to be classified in the " given lustre to " tables known as of Renoir i.e. the works painted of 1889 to 1919.
Delicacy, form, color, light and pleasure are the Masters words of this period. The style becomes again more flexible, more sensual, illustrated by a whole series of Bathers and Girls (with the piano, reading, walking). The scenes inspired by his/her children and the young woman who keeps them, Gabrielle, take a dominating place.
Without returning to a blow of purely impressionist brush, Renoir will inflect the feature, will give up the rigour while preserving modelled its subjects. The tables of this period release a great harmony on the level of the colors and tone employed by the artist. Especially the feature remains perfect and the drawing of an irreproachable quality. In the hills is a splendid example of this pearly period of Renoir.
