Built in 1892 by the doctor of architecture Tokuma Katayama the Imperial Museum of Kyoto accommodates its first visitors in May 1897. In June 1900 the imperial Museum becomes the Museum of Kyoto and is offered to the city in February 1924 at the time of the marriage of the crown prince, finally in April 1952 this one becomes a national institution. Many Chinese works (antiquities, paintings, penmanships, potteries) there are preserved, secular heritage of the multiple invasions of the Japanese emperors of the immense close territory.
