National museum of Athens. Greece. 

The National museum of Athens is installed in a neo-classic building dating from the end of the XIXth century. It shelters an important collection of works of art of ancient Greece, coming from all the important sites of the country, since the oldest period. It is the only museum in the world where the visitors can follow the history of ancient Greek art in all its forms, since its beginnings at the Neolithic era until the last hours of Bottom Roman Empire.
Founded in 1874, the museum underwent since some enlargings and modifications. It presents sculptures, murals, vases and jewels, as well as the masterpieces discovered in the royal burials of Mycènes, like the famous masks of gold and the bronze sculpture of Poséidon of the course Artemision.
